resubmission / bring forward file / "Wiedervorlage"

Added by Florian Dütsch at 2012-02-03 09:19 am

Sorry for my perhaps incorrect description, I'm not a native English speaker.

I'm searching for a possibility to move a ticket out of my scope and bring it back later at a specified date. Some tickets can sleep for weeks or months, but then become important.
Perhaps this is called "resubmission", "bring forward file" oder "follow-up", in german it is called "Wiedervorlage".

Are there solutions to realize this with ChiliProject? I'm an experienced Redmine-user and I also checked the available plugins, but I could not yet find solutions.

The only thing I can think of currently would be to set the start to something in the future. Does that help?

Our plans are:
  • Tickets get a new date field "resubmission"
  • When the date is reached,
    • the ticket gets the highest priority
    • if nobody is assigned, assign the last editor

If you there is no way to reach this without additional programming, we'll realize this as a plugin. Perhaps you have hints oder template plugin suggestions for us.

This is a pretty specific use-case, and there is indeed no way to do this without additional programming currently.

The plugin way is probably easiest, from the top of my head I'd say add the field "resubmission" as a custom field and add a rake task that triggers this behavior. IIRC we currently haven't ported (all) plugin docs from redmine.org to here, so I guess the starting point would be over there.

Ok, thanks for your help. We'll post our solution here when we're finished.
