ChiliProject is not maintained anymore. Please be advised that there will be no more updates.

We do not recommend that you setup new ChiliProject instances and we urge all existing users to migrate their data to a maintained system, e.g. Redmine. We will provide a migration script later. In the meantime, you can use the instructions by Christian Daehn.

Projects Tree View

Added by Jan Wedekind at 2011-05-11 09:47 am

Hi,

Fresh new Chiliproject 1.30 is running like a charm, migration from Redmine 1.04 without issues. Big thanks, guys!

Now I am installing a couple of plugins. I realized that I used the "Projects Tree View Plugin" (described here) because we have a LOT of projects in there and without this plugin, it's really unpractical to browse the /projects view.

Wouldn't it make sense to include such a view by default? On https://projects.kde.org/projects there is something similar (or it's the same plugin, not sure).

Cheers,
Jan

Holger and I talked about redesigning the Project list in an issue. I think we both had different opinions about what it should be like.

Ideally we can have multiple views, since people use that page differently.

Yes, a choice would be best for sure. The Projects Tree View Plugin is far from ideal anyway. It has problems listing the projects you don't have access to, it overrides some defaults (no "overall spent time" link on /activity; no Log Time link in sidebar) etc etc. But at >20 projects, the default view becomes very uncomfortable.

Which I had time to dig into this :(

Thanks a lot!

I think it would be better the projects_tree_view plugin to be embedded in the core of the project. Then there could be
  • default view for not logged users
  • default view for logged user (each user with individual setting)
  • default view per project that may or may not be over-ridden by the user settings
  • etc...?

I'm sorry to reopen an old, old, old, discussion but.....

From version 1.30 until now i have not seen progress about this topic, in our company we have an old redmine 1.2.1 and tree view is our only and needed plugin. We use redmine for each application that composes a project. During this winter I planned an upgrade to a new version and I have not yet decided between chili or redmine. Every thing depend by that plugin. Actually Redmine is in version 2.1 we need to do 1.2(our version)->1.3->1.4->2.0->2.1. But switching to chili i think it's a bit more difficult.
But the upgrade is not the question.

chili is really nice, a lot has been done, something visible( side menu, more clear and nice layout)an something also under the hood has done. I'd like to know if a tree view is in your program. It's a feature tha has a lot of +1 here and under redmine. A basic visualization is enough managed as simple tree.

On https://projects.kde.org/projects there is what everyone wants as a starting point. But I don't know which version of chili uses kde and where is that plugin that can go under chili.
Thanks
