ChiliProject is not maintained anymore. Please be advised that there will be no more updates.

We do not recommend that you setup new ChiliProject instances and we urge all existing users to migrate their data to a maintained system, e.g. Redmine. We will provide a migration script later. In the meantime, you can use the instructions by Christian Daehn.

Reporting module?

Added by Chirpmaster Cloudchirp at 2012-02-17 04:24 am

Just came across ChiliProject 3.0 this past Tuesday, and I have it up and running this evening on a CentOS virtual server, running on Phusion Passenger backed with a MySQL database. Considering that I was a complete newbie with the Ruby on Rails stack and all of the mechanics in regard to provisioning everything, your Wikis and How-Tos were a huge help!

Kudos to the ChiliProject team!

I have been considering which application to use for a combined Project Management and Issue Tracking/Ticketing system, and ChiliProject certainly, and quickly bubbled to the top of my list. The Gantt module alone was a huge win for my team.

A few questions for the experts:

  1. Is there a Reporting Module available, or in the works? I have a rather immediate need to provide some simple PDF reports based on issue criteria in a given project. Ideally, with a summary list with the full issues on subsequent pages (concatenated). We still have non-technical users who are more comfortable with paper in hand at review sessions. Would it make sense for me to investigate how to do this via a Plugin, and are the steps regarding how to create a plugin on the Redmine site be valid for ChiliProject?
  2. Is there a suggested way to work on a new theme targeted for ChiliProject? I'm toying with the idea of using the Skeleton bootstrap (which employs responsive design) as a starting point.

And one more thing:

  • I purchased the RedmineApp (v 1.0.1.2) last night on the App Store, enabled the REST web service setting, and my ChiliProject instance works great with RedmineApp on my iPhone (iOS 5.0.1). I have a self-signed SSL cert as well, and it all works with no problems.

In summary, great product and project. Looks like a good community to participate in, which I will be doing (I've seen a few UI glitches that I'll report issues for soon).

Thanks for your time!

If you mean "filter issues based on their current states", the issue list (either for a project, a project and its sub projects or the global issue list) would be your tool of choice, if you mean "filter issues based on historical data", there's currently no easy way.

ChiliProject supports custom themes, the Redmine HowTo pretty much still holds for ChiliProject: http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/HowTo_create_a_custom_Redmine_theme

Thanks for the flowers and we sure could use the help of someone with an eye for UI stuff :-)
