Theme compatibility

Added by Kris Lou at 2012-02-28 07:16 pm

Is there any way to revert the default theme - or rather, to strip out the old default 2.x and install it as an optional theme? Or are the changes too broad to support the older interface?

My end goal is to actually fix up some of the existing themes for 3.0 (Pixel-Cookers, in particular). I figure that the way to do this is to replace the missing elements from the original PC theme with those in defaults . . . but perhaps this is too simplistic of a pipe dream.

I have no direct knowledge of how much the template/theme changed from version 2.0 to 3.0, but I would assume that most of it at this time should still be working with a few minor issues. But considering that at some point there's going to be changes (for instance due to the switch from prototype to jQuery, you might end up with javascript calls to functions which don't exist anymore), this will slowly make it harder to fix it later than now (and keep the theme up to date as changes are done).

But in the end, most of it is going to be CSS, which the structure has somewhat changed maybe quite a bit, which means that yes, it would probably be a lot of work to get the old theme working.
