We do not recommend that you setup new ChiliProject instances and we urge all existing users to migrate their data to a maintained system, e.g. Redmine. We will provide a migration script later. In the meantime, you can use the instructions by Christian Daehn.

unable to assign issues to other members of the same project

Added by Sebastian DoubleV at 2012-09-20 11:59 pm

Hello,

I've recently set up the latest ChiliProject 3.3.0.

I created users, defined roles, trackers, workflows, versions, issue statuses, issue categories etc. and created some projects.

For some reason, I'm unable to assign issues to other users who are members of the same project. Only to myself. I tried with some test users and it's the same with every one of them - all users can only assign issues to themselves but not to anyone else. None of my test users are flagged as administrator, they are simple users. So is my personal account. Even if I predefine an assignee in an issue category I can't select the users name in the assignee drop down menu.

For testing purposes I created a role with ALL permissions and assigned it to the test users, but nothing changed. They still can't assign issues to other users.

I searched Google as well as the ChiliProject and Redmine forums but was unable to find something related. I guess I'm just overlooking something, but for now I need a little pointer in the right direction.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
Sebastian

This is really strange indeed. Did you load the default data or did start from scratch? Could you try if this happens on a new install with only the default data loaded?

Thanks for your quick reply. I started from scratch. Unfortunately I won't be able to test until tomorrow afternoon (~3pm CEST). I'll report back as soon as possible.

I installed a parallel instance with default data and it's working fine... I compared the settings and know why it didn't work. As usual, it's the simple things. I misinterpreted the "Issues can be assigned to this role" setting in the roles and permissions area. I thought if I enabled it the name of the role would appear in the assignee field, in addition to the users (e.g. assign an issue to a particular role, but not a certain user). Thanks for your support and sorry for the confusion :-)

Cheers
Sebastian
