Description

I am testing out chili @ work. It would be awesome to create wikis that are not tied to any project, such as, a general chiliproject server wiki, or user-owned wikis.

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I have to decline it.

It is one of the most fundamental concepts of ChiliProject that all actual user data is tied to a project. The wikis are in no way special here. It would become a huge mess if we would have non-project wikis. On the end, it would lead to us duplicating most of what projects do and confusing users about where to find stuff.

Many projects have global or for-user wikis. They are however implemented using projects. So you could have a special global project where your global wiki is located. You could then add all your users to it or make it public. You can also create a project for each user as her personal playground. This approach is not only more flexible but also simpler and clearer than having wikis (or other objects) everywhere.

I had a guess that this would be a bigger change than what it's worth, the user project is a good enough work around. Thanks for the suggestion.
