ChiliProject is not maintained anymore. Please be advised that there will be no more updates.

We do not recommend that you setup new ChiliProject instances and we urge all existing users to migrate their data to a maintained system, e.g. Redmine. We will provide a migration script later. In the meantime, you can use the instructions by Christian Daehn.

Will migration from Chili 3.x to 4.0 be smooth?

Added by Eric Dykstra at 2012-07-27 06:03 pm

I've used Redmine a lot. I would like to move to ChiliProject, and now have the opportunity to do that with a new client.

However, I remember reading something about the migration path to the upcoming Chili 4.0 being problematic to the point of not being able to migrate all existing data. Now I've gone looking for that article/post, and I can't find it, which makes me think I am mistaken.

Can some one clarify?

Thanks.

4.0 will probably be switch to Rails 3 and that will bring a lot of changes internally, the change for people using only ChiliProject should be relatively smooth though. If you're worried you can naturally wait for 4.1 though. What could be a problem are the plugins, as most if not all will have to be updated for Rails 3 and the corresponding ChiliProject version.
